Morse by Horse
Finanz Informatik, Drehscheibe Frankfurt, 2006
In the course of our research on the history of data transfer we came across a story which illustrates clearly the simultaneity of analogous and digital data transfer. When in Australia in the 19th century the first telegraph line from coast to coast was constructed, riding horsemen bridged the last gap through rough terrain until the east- and the west-cable were connected. The headline in the papers read: Morse by Horse!
